Righteousness, Mid-Week Devotional with Chris Chase
"He who pursues righteousess and loyalty finds life, righteousness and honor." (Proverbs 21:21) In a small church, serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, commitee member, musician, greeter, usher, nursery worker, etc., it's easy to become busy being busy and at the same time, to develop the idea, as we become more exhausted, that we are more committed to spiritual things, and are somehow earning God's smile of approval. As a result of all that busy business, getting caught up in that maddening undertow, I've heard it said, that we have become a generation of people who, "worship our work, work at our play, and play at our worship!" That, of course, is not a good philosophy or rule to follow. And, it's definitely not supported by the Scriptures. We must analyze the life and lifestyle of Jesus Christ and balance our lives accordingly. Jesus accomplished everything the Father sent Him to do. And He did it without ignoring those essential times of leisure and relaxation.
If that is the way He lived, then it makes good sense for us to follow His example and learn to live in the same way!
