Simplicity, Mid-Week Devotional with Chris Chase
"God made us plain and simple, but we have made ourselves very complicated." (Ecclesiastes 7:29) Oh but what a world we live in . . . everything around us works against us having order and simplicity in our lives. Our world and our lives are so cluttered and complicated. God did not create it to be that way. Depraved and restless humanity has made it that way. For instance, advertisements have but one major goal: to make us discontented and dissatisfied with who we are and what we have. . . You simply must acquire what they are selling! And, that's exactly what most of us do. We acquire more and more and accumulate like it's a race to see who can get the most stuff . . . we are driven to and push to win. That also means we spend more time maintaining those things. Staying ahead of that maddening pace leaves us drained and stressed. Surely, God is not the author of such confusion!
